A stress-free horse is a calmer, happier and safer horse.

We have the most unique trust-based and privileged relationship between man and equine, naturally a human would be considered as ‘the predator’ and the horse as ‘the prey animal’. In addition horses can remember past events, in the case of bad memories this may create stress. Does your horse display anxiety during schooling sessions, visits from the vet, farrier or dentist or maybe show signs of distress when travelling for competitions, or signs of unexplained health or lameness issues?

 

As horses are sensitive animals, they are usually very receptive to energy healing and often become a willing participant. After healing, when their energy is balanced, the horse feels strong and confident, helping to prevent dis-ease, stress and maintaining good health. A session can often alleviate behavioural issues and release psychological and emotional blocks such as anxiety, or physical discomfort and so helping to restore a healthy body.

 

The ideal time for equine healing is a quiet time on the yard, or in the daily routine, preferably after exercise and feed time so that they can be free to fully relax after the session to receive the full benefit. The horse should be in comfortable and familiar surroundings in his stable or paddock.

 

Reiki can work alongside any other holistic or veterinary treatment that the horse is receiving and can often open up the body for a faster response. Some riders may also benefit from a healing session for their own pre-season nerves and concerns. We, and every living thing have an energy field surrounding us, often known as the ‘Aura.’  All energy fields are interconnected and healing for both the horse and the rider can lead to more enjoyment from both points of view and a new two-way relationship can develop.

The ideal time for healing is a quiet time in your house, or in the animal’s daily routine, preferably after exercise and meal time so that they can fully relax after the session to receive the full benefit.

Animals are particularly sensitive to energy and usually become a willing participant. Energy flows through the body of an animal in good health much like an electric current. However, a number of factors can interfere with this flow. Among them are physical injuries, trauma, dietary changes, emotional problems, training issues or a combination of these problems.

Any blockage of energy can result in physical, psychological or behavioural problems. As Reiki is a safe and gentle healing system it will never harm an animal and is particularly useful for animals that have been abused or neglected in the past and will help to release old emotional wounds making it easier for owners and trainers to handle them restoring calm in the relationship.

I always work on the premise that the animal has full choice at all times and never force the healing upon them, they will be free to move around during the session should they choose, and this is often how they select to process the healing. It Is best to treat animals in their familiar surroundings, for dogs, cats and smaller animals in the comfort of their home, or for rescue animals at the shelter.

It is important to have the guardian or carer present during the session so that you can both benefit from the healing experience. As the energy body between animals and humans becomes so closely connected over time it is often hugely beneficial for both to receive Reiki to truly heal the situation, this helps in many cases but especially in the instance of anxiety and stress. Often a treatment for both the pet and the owner can greatly improve the bond and relationship between the two, or in the case of a house with many pets can help restore harmonious living!

A session can be conducted at my healing room in the Arabian Ranches or I can visit you at home, and a ‘Seated’ treatment works well if we are at the stable yard. You remain fully clothed, just remove shoes if suitable and any metal jewellery.

 

During a session for both animals and humans, I may work with my hands off or on the body; the energy may be sensed in the form of warmth or cold, tingling or slight pressure.

 

As the body releases any blockages your may sigh, cough, yawn, laugh, stretch or feel emotional, usually followed by deep relaxation. As the energy flows through and around the body it creates feelings of peace, security and wellbeing.

 

Afterwards you will feel like you have had a refreshing nap even though you were aware of everything that happened!

Distance healing is a technique within the system of Reiki that enables the practitioner to give a healing session without the recipient being in the same room.

 

In simple terms this means that I am able to connect with the energy field of your body or of your horse or animal even though we cannot physically see each other.  This method is as effective as hands on treatment and especially helpful in situations where we cannot meet in person as you are unwell, or perhaps in hospital or in another country. It can be very useful for aggressive animals or those fearful of strangers, and when they have to stay at the vets.
